G4M's Last Model Standing Cycle 1 Auditions

"Fashion is the art!
Designers are the gods!
Models play the part of angels in the dark..."

G4M's "General Chat" Forum welcomes you to the auditions for Cycle 1 of it's very own reality thread -- G4M's Last Model Standing!!

We had 3 wonderful cycles of G4M's Next Top Model. That competition started with a small group of G4M members who were fans of America's Next Top Model. Some of the members suggested that we come up with a competition here in G4M similar to ANTM. In other forums, threads had been created to mirror reality shows such as Survivor or The Amazing Race. It seemed only fitting that here at G4M, where a lot of the members love taking pictures of themselves, we'd create a reality thread mirroring America's Next Top Model. And so G4M's Next Top Model was born.

That competition quickly took on a life of its own. Never could we have predicted that G4M's Next Top Model would turn out the way that it did. What started as a small photo contest between ANTM fans soon turned into one of the fiercest and edgiest online competitions. The thread soon had many supporters, and we managed to run 3 whole cycles. Well, almost... :-)

During Cycle 3, we realized that as the competition grew larger in scope and reknown, to avoid any legal issues it would be best to rename the competition. And that's how G4M's Last Model Standing was born. We will retain many of the elements of G4M's Next Top Model, including the basic mechanics of the competition. We modify some aspects though, including the audition process for both models and judges, as well as the competition requirements during the last few rounds. Whatever the changes will be though, we're confident that everyone who joins, whether as a model or a judge, will have loads of fun.

So enough of the talk. Let's move on and begin the fiercest and edgiest competition in all of G4M: G4M's Last Model Standing!!

G4M'S LAST MODEL STANDING
Contestant Auditions

To all those who want to audition to become a contestant for Cycle 1, now's the time to sign-up. A few things to consider before auditioning:

** This is a 12-week long commitment. If you're not going to be able to sustain coming up with a new pic every week based on the theme for that round, then please don't sign-up. We want to avoid having contestants back-out very late into the competition.

** It's easier to be a contestant if you have access to either a digicam, a phone with a cam, or any sort of camera for that matter. The themes get harder and harder as the competition progresses, and it will be difficult if you're just relying on the photos in your archive.

** This is not a photoshopping contest. We're looking for models, not graphic artists. While edited pics may be better to look at, it's the quality of the model's performance that we're more interested in. That having been said, there are many audience members of this thread who would be more than willing to help you photoshop your pic should you need help with that.

Once you've considered the things above, you can begin thinking about your concept for your official audition pic. Here is the audition process for contestants:

1. You have until 9:00 pm on April 12 to e-mail your official audition photos to g4m.lms@gmail.com. There are 2 photos you need to submit:

a. Photo 1: Black and white face shot
b. Photo 2: Photo for the theme "Strictly Business" (models in business attire)

You can post as many pics as you want here in the thread to get people to help you choose your official audition pics, but only 1 pic for each theme will be posted in the blog. Please include your G4M nick as well as the link to your G4M profile in the e-mail you will be sending.

Important: You MUST e-mail your official audition pic to g4m.lms@gmail.com. Sign-ups through the thread will not be considered valid.

All official pics will be posted here:

2. The contestants then have 1 week to validate their identity with 1 of the veteran G4M-NTM judges/models (list to follow). The validation may be done through webcam. The deadline for the validation is April 13, 9:00 pm.

3. At 9:00 pm on April 12, the judges will begin critiquing your photos and submitting their votes to the contest coordinator. They may also choose to base part of their decision on the photos in your G4M profile. The deadline for the submission of critiques and votes will be at 9:00 pm on April 13. A new thread will be created to announce the 12 finalists, and another thread will be created to officially begin G4M's Last Model Standing Cycle 1 Round 1.

G4M'S LAST MODEL STANDING
Judge Auditions

Sign-ups are ongoing for those who want to become judges for G4M's Last Model Standing. Some things to consider if you're interested in becoming a judge.

** This is a 12-week long commitment. If you're not going to be able to vote for all the rounds, then please don't sign-up. We will impose a 2-strikes-you're-out rule starting from the auditions round. You will not receive any reminders to vote. If you don't vote for any 2 of the rounds, you will automatically be eliminated as a judge.

** Part of your duties as a judge for G4M's Last Model Standing is to provide all the models with constructive criticism on their modelling abilities. For this competition, you will need to submit a critique (1 paragraph minimum) for each of the remaining contestants every week. This is also a 12-week long commitment. If you're not going to be able to submit a critique for all the rounds, then please don't sign-up. We will impose a 2-strikes-you're-out rule starting from Round 1. You will not receive any reminders to submit your critiques. If you don't submit a critique for any 2 of the rounds, you will automatically be eliminated as a judge.

** If you have friends who are joining as contestants, please remain an audience member. Judges must be impartial and unbiased when it comes to voting. If you can't imagine voting off your friend even if they have the weakest pic of the round, then please don't sign-up as a judge.

If you want to sign-up as a judge for G4M's Last Model Standing, please send an e-mail to g4m.lms@gmail.com with the information below:

1. G4M nick
2. e-mail address
3. Yahoo messenger ID

In addition to the information above, you need to submit critiques of the models in the 2 photos below:

If you are unable to submit your critiques, your application will be considered incomplete.

None of your information will be made public, and your information won't even be given to the other judges. The information will be used solely for the purpose of the contest coordinator to get in touch with you should the need arise (e.g., you still haven't placed your vote for the week, there's a tie in the voting that needs to be resolved, etc.).

The deadline for sign-ups to be a judge is 9:00 pm on April 12. All sign-up e-mails received after this time will be considered void. Sign-ups with incomplete information and incomplete critiques will not be entertained.

G4M'S LAST MODEL STANDING
Cycle 1 Mechanics

The mechanics of the competition proper are as follows:

1. Every week, the contestants will submit a photo of themselves based on the weekly theme. The deadline for the pic to be e-mailed to the contest coordinator is Saturday night, 9:00 PM. No pic merits automatic elimination. The e-mail address is g4m.lms@gmail.com. The theme for the following week will also be announced on Saturday.

2. The judges' comments on the submitted photos will be posted in the blog and in the thread. Votes, however, will be submitted to the contest coordinator through either private messaging or e-mail. The judges will choose who they want to be the Model of the Week, as well as who they want to eliminate.

The judges must submit a 1st choice and a 2nd choice. Results will be primarily based on the 1st choice. The 2nd choice will only be used if a tie-breaker is needed. In cases of a tie, the 1st choice will count for 2 points and the 2nd choice will count for 1 point, and the contestant with the most points will either be the Model of the Week or the eliminated contestant, as appropriate.

The deadline for voting is Sunday night, 9:00 PM. We're implementing a 2-strikes-you're-out rule. If you do not submit either your critique or your vote for any 2 of the rounds, you will be eliminated as a judge.

3. The contest coordinator will announce the Model of the Week as well as who is eliminated in a new thread, latest Sunday night 10:00 PM. A new thread will also be created for the new round.
